Cody Spell

FOR PARENTS & SCHOOLS

Safety, privacy
and school information

Practical information to help you decide how Cody Spell fits your setting. We welcome questions before you start using it with children.

Adults stay involved

Cody Spell is designed for children aged 5–11 with adult supervision. Parents and teachers choose spelling work and can review results.

Audio, hints and feedback support practice. They do not replace a teacher’s judgement, and words or pronunciations may occasionally need checking.

School sign-in

School pupils use a school code, profile name and assigned PIN. They do not need to create an adult email account to use that sign-in route.

Teachers manage classroom rosters and can reset pupil PINs. Keep sign-in details private and supervise shared devices.

Classroom access

Teacher classroom actions are checked by the server against classroom access. Pupil results are accessed through the classroom and account flows.

Ask us about the staff access and school setup available for your pilot, especially where several adults support the same pupils.

Information used for learning

The app stores account and profile details, spelling lists and results such as scores, completed words and test dates. It also records activity and technical information to operate and improve the service.

See the Privacy Policy for more information, or contact us with a specific question about pupil data.

Home and school use

Parent account and school-pupil sign-in are distinct routes. School pupils access assigned classroom spellings using their school details.

Before a pilot, discuss how accounts should be set up for your pupils, including any who already use Cody Spell at home.

Before you start a pilot

We can discuss the practical questions your school needs answered, including:

  • Account setup and who will have access.
  • What pupil information is needed.
  • Data handling, retention and deletion questions.
  • Privacy documentation for your school’s review.
